Naya Ujyalo and Kanti Partnership
In alignment with its foundational vision of "Health for All," Naya Ujjyalo Foundation, under the stewardship of its Founder, Mr. Atreya Koirala, has recently formalized a collaborative agreement with Kanti Children's Hospital (KCH) in Nepal. Established in April 2021, Naya Ujjyalo Foundation has been diligently working to ameliorate the living conditions of individuals residing in the rural communities of Nepal, particularly during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Kanti Children's Hospital, founded in 1938, holds the distinction of being Nepal's inaugural pediatric government hospital. This significant Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was officially signed on 9th October 2023, thereby marking a pivotal moment in the healthcare sector of Nepal.
Objectives of the MOU
The MOU aims to augment the accessibility of pediatric oncology services at Kanti Children's Hospital, specifically targeting underprivileged children diagnosed with cancer. This initiative is designed to supplement the medical needs of patients who show promising prognoses but are financially constrained, even after availing government subsidies and Health Tax Fund support.
Scope of the Partnership
The collaboration between Naya Ujjyalo Foundation and Kanti Children's Hospital is comprehensive in its scope. It involves the provision of crucial medical support to identified patients who are in dire need of such assistance. The ultimate objective is to annually extend medical support to two to three children suffering from cancer, with plans for incremental expansion in the ensuing years based on the success metrics of the initiative.
Financial Commitment
Naya Ujjyalo Foundation, led by Mr. Atreya Koirala, has pledged a substantial annual budget of NPR One Million for this project. This fund has already been disbursed in favor of Kanti Children's Hospital, with provisions for future increments contingent upon the successful implementation and outcomes of the project.
Formalization of the Partnership
The formal partnership was ceremonially sealed on the 9th of October, 2023, at Kanti Children's Hospital in Kathmandu, Nepal. Dr. Pankaj Ray, the Director of KCH, was the recipient of the NPR One Million cheque, handed over by Mr. Atreya Koirala, thereby symbolizing the commencement of this significant alliance.
This groundbreaking partnership stands as a testament to both organizations' unwavering commitment to healthcare equity and the welfare of underprivileged children in Nepal. It is a monumental step towards actualizing their shared vision of "Health for All."
